The Origin (2018)
My mother started making skincare from home as a way to build something of her own and move beyond the traditional expectations of a Marwari household. What began as a personal project for independence grew through word of mouth. She started with handcrafted batches for friends and family, which eventually grew into gifting for weddings and supplying local curated boutiques.
Tatva Skincare Today
Tatva Skincare is now entering a new chapter. We are evolving from a local secret into a direct-to-consumer brand. I have stepped in to scale what she built, but the core remains the same: reliable, straightforward body care. We still believe in the quality of the base, the purpose of the botanical, and the drive of the woman who started it all.
The Hands Behind the Tatva
The Karta Dharta — Seema Dhanania
My mother remains the Karta Dharta—the curator and soul—of our soaps, bath scrubs, and salts. Every formulation still passes through her hands, ensuring that as we grow, we don’t lose the intentionality of those first home-made batches.
The Strategist — Siddharth Dhanania
My role is to protect the legacy of those original batches—balancing her intuitive curation with the systems needed to bring Tatva into your home.
The Approach
We focus on the Tatva—the absolute essence. Our formulations are intentionally minimal, using cosmetic-grade bases enriched with purposeful botanicals. We categorize these through the lens of the Great Elements (Mahabhutas).
- Vayu (Air) | The Detox: Adsorption. Clarifying ingredients that draw away surface impurities for a light, refreshed feel.
- Prithvi (Earth) | The Feed: Replenishment. Rich in Earth-aligned substances chosen to nourish, comfort, and support natural softness.
- Jala (Water) | The Reset: Hydration. Botanicals known for cooling, replenishing, and soothing the skin.
- Agni (Fire) | The Renewal: Surface Renewal. Sources of natural vitality that refine surface texture to reveal a healthy radiance.
- Akasha (Space) | The Pause: The 60-Second Rule. This is not an ingredient. This is the process we recommend you follow—massaging for a minute to give the natural ingredients the contact time needed to interact with the skin’s surface.
The Balance
We occupy the space between two extremes: overly complicated “luxury” and synthetic mass-market product.
The Goal
Body care designed for regular use—to cleanse thoroughly and support the skin barrier.
The Rule
We choose what is necessary and leave the rest behind. Just the Tatva.
